Every organization starts with
a need.
Mission Control started with the need to support people
doing good work.
Nonprofits and small business do good work---sheltering the houseless, feeding the undernourished, advocating for the vulnerable, and building value in communities. Behind that work is usually one or two passionate individuals with too much on their plate. Mission Control aims to take some of the weight off the shoulders of these master job jugglers and hat wearers so they can focus on making the world a better place.
Mission Control fuses human-centered experience, design, and creative problem-solving to produce elegant and effective communications for clients spanning the nonprofit and small business sectors. We create forward-thinking content and copy to connect you to your audience, tell your story, and fuel your organization's development. We work right alongside you, taking your voice and your passions and turning them into tangible ideas that your donors and supporters can hold on to.
While we center Northern Michigan organizations, this is a young business open to opportunity, expansion, and growth. We are happy to connect with anyone expressing a need for writing, design, communications, or fundraising assistance.
CENTERING EQUITY
We strive to always approach communications from a social and environmental justice perspective and to never misrepresent the communities we serve. As part of our commitment to furthering the advancement of Black, Indigenous, and other People of Color (BIPOC) populations, all organizations founded or directed by BIPOC receive a 10% discount on services, and 2% of all profits are donated back to local orgs serving marginalized communities. Currently, we are supporting the Indigenous Needs Fund offered through Miigwech, Inc. and wellness programming scholarships to Indigenous women offered by Orient to Thrive. We hope that we can expand upon these commitments as our capacity increases.
Behind the Brand
Behind every brand is a compelling origin story. So, what's the story behind Mission Control?
My name is Jessyca Stoepker, and I am the sole writer, designer, and strategist behind MC. I grew up near Lake Odessa, Michigan (between Grand Rapids and Lansing, for those map-minded folks) and moved to Petoskey in 2018 after I graduated from Grand Valley State University with a BA in health communications, a writing minor. I've worked with nonprofits, human service orgs, and grassroots initiatives all my life and have recently dove into the small business world as well, realizing how much good they can do for their communities.
I'm currently working toward a master's degree in the realm of global studies and community development. In addition, I have obtained the following certifications and positions:
-
Social Media Marketing Certification, HubSpot
-
Certified Professional Writer, International Association of Professional Writers & Editors
-
Climate Reality Leader Corps, Climate Reality Project
-
Graduate, Leadership Little Traverse Class of 2020
-
Certificate of Sustainable Food Systems, GVSU
-

I am passionate about alleviating the endless list of injustices we face today—particularly climate change, economic inequality, white supremacy, and public health threats—but it's impossible for me to focus on just one issue because they are all interconnected. By using my communications skills and real-world experience, I hope to support organizations doing meaningful work and bring about positive change in my community.
